This Bitsy game is based on the story of Little Red Riding Hood. It's a dark game where you play as Little Red Riding Hood. In the first half, Red Riding Hood has to walk along the forest to get to grandma's house. She eventually goes off the path to grab some mushrooms for her grandma. In the second half, after being eaten by the wolf, Red Riding Hood must find her way out of the wolf with grandma. The game will be mostly exploring and talking to NPCs. There is also a section where you play as the lumberjack and must rescue Red riding from the wolf’s belly by cutting him open. I think Red Riding Hood would make for a perfect setting for a darker game. You are a little girl all alone in the woods being stalked by a hungry wolf. There is a dark atmosphere, isolation, and a monster. While I originally wanted this to be a horror game, the limitations of Bitsy made it difficult so it’s more of a dark and eerie game. I want my players to feel disturbed and creeped out in my game. This will be conveyed through graphic descriptions of what is happening. The dialogue from NPCs will convey that something is wrong and that they have been living in fear. The dark color palettes adds to the darkness of the game. There isn’t much of a challenge in the game, due to Bitsy limitations, but there is some exploration you’ll need to do in order to move onto certain sections. Also, things aren’t all that obvious so you’ll need to talk to NPCs to figure out what is going on and where to go. I want the players to be able to explore the different locations and interact with NPCs and items. This information will give a player a bigger sense of what's happening in the forest and learn more about the wolf itself. Some NPCs have shuffled and looping dialogue, meaning they will tell the player different things each time. If the player wants to learn more, they’ll need to keep talking to the NPC. This adds some depth to the NPC, instead of making them feel like a stagnant character with little development. It makes the world feel more real. The player will discover more about the world the more they interact. But the player can choose to not interact with the NPCs, and by doing so, won’t learn about the world.
